During this Planning for Success presentation Michael focuses on the importance of how you can become an authority and succeed at what you do. He begins by talking about his carreer path that started with college radio and him being the “ultimate fan”. He then moved to a music management firm where he began to focus on marketing for bands and building fan relationships pre-internet.
From there he went to a metal label in Chicago doing radio promotion and from there to a rock magazine where he wrote and reviewed music. This led him to working in advertising and the beginnings of the internet. His instincts to learn html and build web sites led him to building the first ever Kiss fan site in the mid-90’s. The fifth website ever built all about Kiss! Within three years (1998) of launching the site he was personally contacted by Gene Simmons with a business proposal that radically altered the trajectory of his career!
It’s always a great pleasure to work with Michael and hear his insight on the music industry. For more great info on music & band marketing from Michael be sure to check out his blog and podcast at: http://michaelbrandvold.com/blog/tag/podcast/
